Facial masks and body temperature detection system implemented at school in Nur-Sultan city
On April 27, 2021, a facial recognition system that detects body temperature and face masks was launched at a school in the capital.
This Kazakhstani IT development allows only authorized and registered users to have access to the school. In addition, this technology is capable of tracking the time of presence and attendance of students, teachers and all staff.
"This development helps to solve several problems at once: it provides both security and control over attendance. At the moment the local developers have more than 200 clients, 80% of whom are in Kazakhstan, the rest are from Russia, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, the Philippines, Singapore, Indonesia and India" - says Arman Ernazarov, Clockster representative.
Clockster is a Kazakhstani development, an HR-system for timekeeping. It allows integration with biometric devices by using the face. According to the developers, the Clockster system is unique as it recognizes a user through facial biometrics searching a database of authorized users. If there is no match in the database, there is no access to inside the building.
As part of the pilot, the system was launched in the #59 school in Nur-Sultan.
"Ensuring the safety of children is of paramount importance. ID cards can get lost or might be stolen. Another feature of the Clockster system is that notification of a child's attendance comes immediately to both the School’s administration and the pupil's parents. The data is owned by Clockster and the users themselves, so they are responsible for its security," reports Adilet Nurgozhin, Chairman of the Board of JSC "Astana Innovations".
"Our project was tested at the Center for Analysis and Prevention of Cyberattacks in 2020, according to their recommendations all possible vulnerabilities were eliminated so that there are currently none," says Arman Yernazarov.
It is noteworthy that Nur-Sultan City Akimat together with Astana Innovations works on creation of favorable and comfortable living conditions for residents and guests of the capital, based on "smart city" solutions. Thus, within the framework of the "Smart Neighborhood" project Astana Innovations scouts for companies with solutions ready for implementation. If the results are successful, installation of the system will be proposed at other schools of the capital.
